Congratulations to Thaislen Perez for the first YHPAA Scholarship to be awarded! She graduated from Manor High School on May 25, 2007. As a senior, Thaislen was president of her high school’s Spanish club and a member of FCA and the National Honor Society. She has volunteered at her local hospital, library, and nursing home while being an active member of her church. Since she is bilingual, Thailsen has tutored ESL students for the TAKS test and has a calling to help others. Her favorite quote is, “Do not go where the path may lead, but go instead where you’ll leave a trail” and is motivated by her Father’s words: “La educación es la llave para triunfar en la vida.” (Education is the key to succeed in life.) Thaislen will be starting her studies in human biology in the fall at the University of Texas at Austin and has been accepted in to the TIP program. She hopes to attend medical school at Baylor or the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio after college in pursuit of her dream of being a cardiologist. |
