Vice-President: Elías Hermida was born in Mexico City. He graduated from Law School at Anáhuac University
in México City and holds a Master's Degree in International Relations and Communication
from the Complutense de Madrid University in Spain.
He has worked for HSBC Financial Group. He also served as legal and financial advisor for the Mexican Government’s Ministries
of Interior and Finance, and for the Mexican Embassy in Spain.
In the US, he has volunteered with El
Buen Samaritano and Feria para Aprender. He is an active member of the International Business Committee of the Greater Austin
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Austin’s Mexican
Business Owners Association. He works at a startup that he co-founded: 1-800-HISPANO, a free information resource for Spanish

Secretary:
Veronica
Chapa-Jones is
a native of McAllen, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley. She moved to Austin in 2001 to work on a MA in Latin American Studies
and MS in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Texas at Austin. While at UT, Veronica was one of the first
Lozano-Long Fellows and a National Science Foundation GK-12 Fellow. Her research interests included border development with
an emphasis on housing and Mexican public policy. After internships in DC and in McAllen, Veronica began her work with the
Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs and is currently a planner responsible for assisting in the administration
of approximately $46 million in housing assistance throughout rural Texas. Veronica is married to Robert E. Jones from
Portland, TX and they share their home with a lovable lab named Murphy.

Membership Director: Becky Treviño was born and raised in Detroit,
Michigan. She graduated from The University of Michigan in 2004 earning her master's
degree in Industrial & Operations Engineering through an intensive 5-yr bachelor/master degree program sponsored by the
Tauber Institute for Global Operations.She currently works at Dell Inc.in Global Retail Fulfillment Operations managing the
Latin American region. In January 2007, Becky was named Promising Engineer of the Year by The Society of Hispanic Professional
Engineers (SHPE) National Office and was the 2006 Past Chair of the Austin SHPE Chapter. In September 2007 she received The
Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Community Award for her role leading Dell TechKnow and was listed as a top volunteer
by Austin Woman magazine in its December Viva Volunteers! issue. One of Becky's life goals is to honor the memory of her father
by curing cancer within her lifetime. She ran The Austin Marathon as part of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in
Training and is a core member of Team Dell, a group of 200 (soon to be 400!) athletes that raised $59K for The 2007 Lance
Armstrong LIVESTRONG Challenge. She is a sister of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority and 2007 graduate of Leadership Austin's
Emerge Program. Becky loves dancing salsa, shopping at Zara, watching way too many chick flicks, and playing indoor soccer
with Internazionale Indoor FC. Go Inter!

Social Director:
Araceli Brown
is originally from Brownsville, TX and currently works for PPD, Inc. as a Manager in their Clinical Data Management department. She earned
a Bachelors of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University. Araceli is also a 2007 Leadership
Austin Emerge Program graduate, and proudly volunteers and/or supports the Austin Baptist Chapel Soup Kitchen, Meals on Wheels,
the American Red Cross of Central Texas, World Vision and the Volunteer Healthcare Clinic Lab. She enjoys movies, the
challenges of half-marathon training, and is an avid salsa and country/western dancer.

Community Director:
Jennifer Ramos is
a La Vernia, Texas native who received her bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas at Austin. Jennifer is
active in the local community, supporting organizations and charities such as the AFLAC Cancer Center, Habitat for Humanity,
YHPAA, and serving as a catechist for St. Louis Catholic Church. Currently, she is a District Sales Coordinator for AFLAC
and manages a team of 12 sales associates. In her free time she enjoys traveling, running local races and skiing.

Sabrina Cordova grew up in Fort Stockton, TX and moved to Austin, TX in 1998. Graduated with a Bachelor
of Science in Biology from Sul Ross State University. While attending Sul Ross she held offices of Vice President of the Student
Government Association, Vice President of Biology Club and a member of the Program Council. She has worked in outside sales
for the past 10 years. With a vast experience in the medical field. As co-director of fundraising, she would like to help
take YHPAA to new heights.

Public Relations
Director:
Celina Zamora
is originally from El Paso, but grew up in various areas throughout the U.S. including California, Louisiana, and Texas. Celina
initially attended LSU with the intention of becoming a veterinarian, but decided to focus on communications and consumer
buying power. She ended up earning my B.A. in Communications at the University of Houston, with a focus in Advertising/PR.
Immediately after, and began working at Lopez Negrete Communications, one of the top Hispanic fully integrated advertising
agencies. She focused on account management and events/promotions with clients such as Bank of America, Wal-Mart, and Tyson
Foods. Two years ago, she decided to transition into a career of education to reach the Hispanic community in the most influential
way possible and moved up to Austin and to teach 6th Grade Science for Austin ISD. She's also works with
AISD's Reach Committee, which focuses on strategic compensation within the district. In addition, Celina recently
became a part of the Education Committee for the GAHCC. She enjoys Austin, and hopes to add to what makes this city unique.

Fundraising Co-Director:
Christin Alvarado grew up in Edinburg, Texas. She graduated from Rice University in 2007 with a degree in
Psychology and English. While at Rice, Christin coordinated the America Reads and Counts tutoring program and a week of service
for incoming freshman called Urban Immersion. She moved to Austin shortly after graduation and began working with campus and
community programs for the non-profit organization Austin Partners in Education. Christin has also worked on the planning
committee of Feria Para Aprender, an education fair for the Spanish-speaking community, for the last two years. Christin is
involved with the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, the St. John's Community and School Alliance
and the Austin Stone Community Church. Once a week, she tutors with the College Readiness program at Lanier High School. Christin
enjoys live music, wandering around South Congress, and trying new restaurants.

Treasurer:
Jorge Gonzalez is from Brownsville, TX. In 2001 he moved
to Austin to pursue his acting career. Over the past 8 years, Jorge has given life to many different characters.
His most recently participated in a traditional Mexican “Novela” La Ley Del Silencio a production of Telemundo.
Currently, Jorge forms part of the only Spanish speaking theater in Austin “Poyecto Teatro”. Jorge now works for
Capital One Bank as a Relationship Banker where he is responsible for direct selling of consumer and small business products/services.
He successfully on-boards new customers by conducting interviews, assessing needs, and recommending appropriate products.
Jorge and his fiancée Lisa are planning their wedding which is set for June of 2009. Jorge enjoys many hobbies including
horseback riding, swimming, and music. Jorge is new to YHPAA and looks forward to meeting everyone and becoming close with
