As we look ahead to an exciting year for YHPAA, President Samira López reflects on the organization's mission, the power of community, and what's in store as we celebrate nearly 20 years of empowering Latino professionals across Central Texas.

Dear YHPAA Family,

As I continue my term as President of YHPAA, I am filled with gratitude, excitement, and pride for an organization that has helped connect and empower Latino professionals across Austin and the Central Texas Region for nearly two decades.

My name is Samira López, and I am a proud Tejana and Southeast Austin native. I was raised here, and as our city continues to grow and evolve, I remain committed to strengthening a space where Latino professionals can build meaningful connections, advance their careers, and give back to the community that has given us so much. Austin is where my family and roots remain, making this work deeply personal to me.

I take great pride in being a first-generation college graduate, the daughter of an immigrant, a U.S. Veteran, and a descendant of a Bracero family from South Texas. These experiences have shaped both my personal and professional journey and continue to inspire my commitment to creating opportunities for others.

I am honored to serve alongside an incredible Board of Directors whose members bring diverse professional, entrepreneurial, and leadership experiences to our organization. Their passion, expertise, and commitment to service strengthen our mission and help ensure YHPAA continues to create meaningful opportunities for Latino professionals throughout Austin and the Central Texas region.

The first half of the year has been filled with momentum. From our Financial Empowerment Event to our Professional Headshot Social, we have created opportunities for members to invest in themselves, expand their networks, and build lasting relationships.

And we're just getting started.

We're excited for what's ahead, including additional social and professional development events designed to help our members continue to grow, connect, and engage more deeply with the YHPAA community. We also look forward to two of our signature events, the Annual Boat Party Fundraiser and our Annual Fundraising Gala, where we will celebrate a major milestone: 20 years of YHPAA's impact in Austin and the Central Texas region.

At its heart, YHPAA is a place to connect, grow, and give.

Through leadership, networking, and community engagement, we empower Latino professionals while supporting first-generation undergraduate students through our scholarship program.

One of the accomplishments I am most proud of is the impact of our scholarship program. Thanks to the support of our members, sponsors, and community partners, every student who has received a YHPAA scholarship has gone on to graduate, resulting in a 100% graduation rate. This achievement reflects the power of investing in students and reinforces why our mission matters.

As we celebrate 20 years of impact, we are also laying the foundation for the next generation of leadership, opportunity, and community.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you're a longtime member, volunteer, sponsor, or new to YHPAA, your support makes our mission possible.

I invite you to join us as we continue to Dar. Gozar. Avanzar.

Together, we will honor our legacy, invest in future generations, and continue building a stronger Latino professional community across Austin and the Central Texas region.

With gratitude,

Samira López

President, YHPAA
